| The technique of the old
masters is a natural choice for Judith to conceive her portrait
ideas: the richness of different layers of paint, one on top of the
other, results in a depth and refinement that she cannot surpass with
any other technique. It is therefore the basis of her work. She is, however, also inspired by the impasto technique of later portrait painters, such as Repin, Sargent and Schwartze. To her the challenge is to always find the right balance between these proven techniques and her own painter's touch. |
